Norwalk
romps in final tuneup
In its final tuneup for the FCIAC tournament, the Norwalk boys soccer team
manhandled Bassick, 9-2, in its final regular-season finale.
The Bears will
take a 12-2-2 record into Wednesday's FCIAC semifinals. Third-seeded Norwalk
will face No. 2 seed New Canaan in the 6 p.m. opener at Fairfield Ludlowe,
with top-seeded Greenwich taking on New Canaan in the nightcap.
Against Bassick, Norwalk put the game away early with three goals in the
opening 3:42.
Mike Fraioli netted three goals and had an assist to lead the Bears scoring.
Kris Whitteaker added two goals, and Jonathan Colangelo, Ronald Machado,
Melvin Rodriguez and Yves Jean-Baptiste all scored one goal each.
Rodriguez, Jean-Baptiste, Mauricio Pino, Connor Prescott and Matt Surace
all picked up assists.
Mike Surace and Javier Mandojano split the goalkeeping duties and made one
save apiece.
